Green energy

Last week there was a knock on our door and a gentleman introduce himself as someone who can lower our energy bill. He launched into his monologue as quick as possible telling us how much he could potentially save us on our bills if I answer him one simple question.⁉️ And that was, “who is our energy supplier?” I told him it is Bulb.  He smiled and before he left, said “oh you are sorted then”. And he was right, we are!

Here are some of the reasons why switching to renewable is not a bad idea (kinda we should do it asap).

#1 reducing our carbon footprint.  The latest IPCC climate change report warning us that there is only 12 years to be kept to a maximum of 1.5C and avoid catastrophic environmental breakdown. Meaning we need to reduce the use of fossil fuels (we are running out of it eventually anyway) and phasing out coal use like today.

#2 Air pollution.  Less coal burning means cleaner air therefore lower chances on negative health impact.

#3 More jobs. Fossil fuel technologies mechanised vs the renewable energy industry is more labour intensive. Solar panels need humans to install them; wind farms need technicians for maintenance.

#4 Stable energy prices – exactly what it says on the tin. ” The sun is going to keep shining, the wind is going to keep blowing, landfills will keep producing gas and the Earth will continue producing thermal energy. The inexhaustibility of these energy sources is precisely their financial strength.”

#5 Saves water.  Traditional coal burning to create energy uses LOADS of water. Power plants globally use enough water to supply the needs of one billion people.

#6 Save sea life. Offshore wind farms safety regulations mean that they effectively become Marine Conservation Zones, where fishing is prohibited. This allows fish in the area to develop to full size and stops the seabed from being damaged from trawler nets.

#7 Creates circular systems. Biogas can be produced by farmers by using food waste (which would otherwise go to landfill) making themselves self-sustaining ‘circular’ systems.

We are with Bulb because they are providing us with GREEN and renewable energy in a competitive price beating all the 6 mar UK based energy suppliers. Every year, the typical home with Bulb saves 1.3 tonnes of CO2 from entering the atmosphere. That’s like planting 655 trees.

Other UK based green energy suppliers are Ovo Energy and Ecotricity.

Have you switched yet? What is holding you back?

I hope you enjoyed this post and thanks so much for reading. xx
